To celebrate the scouting centenary in Australia, Scouts WA will be hosting a major all sections event named “Unearth Perth”. Run by the Rover Section, members of all sections from Joeys right through to Rovers, and even leaders will participate in 3 fun filled days exploring Perth CBD and its surrounds.
GETTING THERE
Unearth Perth will be using the Public Transport System for participants to arrive and depart as well as for moving around during the event. You will need to arrive via one of the 5 train lines and disembark at The Esplanade Train Station. From there it will be a short walk to the site. You must arrive at and depart from the event in full uniform.
THE SITE
The main site will be located at the Esplanade on the banks of the Swan River right in the heart of the city. From here access to public transport is readily accessible with Barracks Street Jetty, The Esplanade train station and the City Bus Port all a stones throw away. Utilising this extensive transport network, participants, in teams of 6, will travel all over the city and its surrounding suburbs chasing all the excitement that Perth has to offer.
DAY ACTIVITIES
Approximately 100 activity bases will be spread across the designated ‘Game Zone’ bordered by the Circle Route. These activities will utilise all parts of scouting including Water Activities, Adventurous Activities, Performing Arts, Spiritual Development, Communications, Environment and many other exciting activities. You will also get to see the sights of Kings Park, Fremantle, Cottesloe Beach, South Perth and Northbridge. Negotiations are currently underway with many local businesses and attractions so you may be able to experience a lot more of what Perth has to offer.
AT NIGHT
The fun defiantly will not stop when the sun goes down as things will crank up at the ASOC (All Sections Overnight Camp). You will be able to blow you mind with activities such as Rock Climbing, Bouncy Castle, Sumo Wrestling, Paint Wars and Fire Twirling. For those who wish to chill out, you can listen to the live music or head to the Movie Tent. With live bands and DJ Dribl spinning the tunes it will be a couple of night never to forget.
CATERING
The weekend will be a self catered affair with BBQ’s provided onsite. No fires will be allowed for cooking. BYO all your own food and cooking utensils. Washing up facilities will also be provided.
