Below is a list of frequently asked questions. For anything relating to the sleeping and camping arrangements for particiants please chose the sleeping menu to the left of click here.
If you have a question which is not in the list below, email the Unearth Perth Organising Committee unearthperth(at)scoutswa.com.au
As a group, we want to bring in tents and cooking equipment by vehicle. How do we go about this? Thats fine, and we encourage you to do this, but due to the limited space on The Esplanade you will not be able to park your vehicle or trailer on the reserve. You will be able to drop your gear off on the Friday night and then take your trailer back to your scout hall. Have a think about joining in with another group in your district and sharing the cooking and cooking equipment. This will save on the amount of gear you need to bring. Closer to the event we will put up some details on the website containing the more finer details of this.
We are a country group and want to know if there will be parking on The Esplanade for our cars and trailers? Due to the limited space on The Esplanade you will not be able to park on The Esplanade. Country groups who are bringing gear for competitors in trailers will be able to drop the gear off at The Esplanade and then take their car and trailer to Branch Headquarters where we will have a shuttle bus to bring you back to the site. It would be good if you could let the Administration Team know if you will require parking at BHQ.
I have heard that there are going to be different times for different sections throughout the weekend, is this true? All sections will be there for the whole weekend. The event starts on Saturday morning and ends on Monday after the award ceremony. All sections will be sleeping in tents (or dorm style accommodation for Joeys and Cubs) on The Esplanade. If you have any further questions regarding this please contact the Unearth Perth Organising Committee unearthperth(at)scoutswa.com.au or call 0438 953 343.
Im over 18, do i need a Working With Children Check Card? Yes, every person over the age of 18 who are participating in the event will need a Working With Children Check (WWCC). These forms can be picked up from Australia Post stores. You will need to enter your WWCC number or receipt number on your application form.
We are a country group and because of our travel time we need to arrive in Perth on the Friday so we can participate in the whole weekend. Has accommodation been arranged for us? Only country groups will be able to check in to The Esplanade on Friday the 30th of May from 3pm. The site will still be being set up and there will be no activities available for groups so you will need to make your own fun. It would be good if you could let the Unearth Perth Organising Committee know if you are going to be checking in on the Friday. Contact us on unearthperth(at)scoutswa.com.au or call 0438 953 343 to let us know or if you have any further questions regarding this.
What will the money that I pay for the event get me? The money you pay to attend Unearth Perth goes towards paying for all the activities that will be provided over the weekend including all the bases (both manned and un-manned), as well as the activities you will find at the ASOC (check out the activities at the ASOC here). Your entrance fee also pays for your Unearth Perth T-Shirt and the maps you will be given in you team registration pack. Stuff like the toilets, power and fences as well as The Esplanade Reserve will all be paid for by your registration fees. Trust us, you will get a bang for your buck.
Will The Esplanade be secure while it is being camped on? Yes. The whole Esplanade reserve will be fenced off from the public and there will be continuous security presence provided by a commercial company for the duration of the weekend. The police will also be notified of the event. If you have any further concerns regarding security at the event, please do not hesitate to contact the event director Greg Chapman unearthperthdirector(at)scoutswa.com.au
Will the public transport be free for event participants and staff? Yes. Public transport will not cost you a cent for the whole weekend! Your ID tags will be your ticket onto trains, buses and ferries. If you do not have your ID tags to show to transperth staff, you will have to pay.
